Your sarcasm is inappropriate. This poster has a right to her/his opinion. There are plenty of folks that think that kids are a bad idea, especially in their case. I'm proud of the fact I don't have kids: I'd beat them just like Joan Crawford did in Mommy Dearest. :mad:

Personal responsibility means making informed decisions, and you can't make an informed decision if the information isn't available. I think that restaurants like that should make nutritional info easily available. That, and quit advertising unhealthy food in ways that imply that it is healthy.

It's not much to go on, but he gave someone a temporary majority in the most nonchalant manner I can think of. It's just a pet theory, but it's the best I got for now.

To be fair, the brushed metal interface first debuted in 1999 with Quicktime 4.0. Compared to the horrendous user interfaces of the time period, that looks amazing. It is sad though that it took them until leopard to get rid of it...
It's not the brush metal that was bad. It was the Volume Dial on the left side to appear like a dial on a device. To change the volume was difficult.

How would an operating system KNOW it is being run in virtualization? It cannot determine the difference from a real computer. We are talking about Vista like it is an artificial intelligence of some kind.
It's not about that, it's about having a "legit" installation. Especially for commercial environments, this means that Vista will only run in legit terms if you buy the Premium versions...

Apple has done something VERY important with the iPod. They made it cool, especially among teens thru college-aged kids. Whenever I'm in an Apple store, it's very obvious just how strongly Apple is going after this demographic and I think it's paying off.

The stacked shot is not exactly the one I would have chosen to do that with (the first shot would have been mine).
The one I used is the only one that does not have significant perspective distortion.
Highly suspicious of the first shot -- it appears that you can see the face of the white iPhone, but not the black. If the white is taller, it should be the other way around.

nope...USB is gonna be here longer than the floppy disk. USB's already got 15+ years under it's belt. Floppy disk essentially was here from 1978-2000 for the personal computer market. Roughly. 22 years.
Although USB 3.0 is certainly welcome for the faster speeds, it is really not needed for some devices like keyboards, mice, and printers. Again, everyone loves speed, but going to 3.0 is not a need for many devices. Not to mention that going to 3.0 is backwards compatible so there is far far less risk for someone to invest in 3.0 than to move to TB.
My bet is USB will be here easily until 2025...but of course other technologies may limit USB's importance (and thus USB may be for the basic stuff like mouse, keyboards, etc)

Finally, a quad core desktop class machine (in processors only I suppose) with ample I/O and a decent . . . . for Apple . . . . price.
Shocked that Apple would give us TWO TBolt ports on the 27" with quad core across the line.
The $1700 has my cheap side tingling but my professional side is telling me to wait for a Mac Pro update so I can at least consider a machine I can expand myself.
On the plus side, that 21.5" is not a bad machine for the price.

more then likely the wireless part is directed at the ipod, but this will only stimulate competition, its about time apple is forced to compete with others for the best device again

I want to see a Thunderbolt dock.
Thunderbolt in on one side.
On the other side, USB, eSATA, Firewire 800, Displayport out (for monitors), audio in/out, gigabit ethernet. Maybe even have space inside for an internal hard drive or two.
This way, when you get home and want to use your laptop at your desk with external monitor, keyboard, etc.. just plug in two cables. Thunderbolt and power.
This would be so awesome, and would pretty much eliminate the need for many of us to have a desktop machine.

They're really shy at first, like any animal. But when they warm up to you they are extremely loving and loyal but they get jealous if there are other animals around that get any attention.
I had one before with an ex and we had him in an apartment, no problem. He was very easy to train and I was extremely impressed by that. They aren't loud by any means and in this case they max out at 12" from the front paws to the back of the head and weigh ~12 lbs.

Firstly, I'd be very surprised if this was Gold Master considering how early it is and I was expecting there to be a few UI updates prior to its release given that the Leopard look is quite old now.
But now they've given us this, a hark back to the whole brushed metal fiasco of early Mac OS X, where there was a mixture of ghastly brushed metal and aqua (yes and that brushed metal Finder ;)). The original reasoning behind the brushed metal was that it was supposed to be reserved for things like iTunes, where certain apps were supposed to resemble their physical counterparts (sound familiar?) but then Apple had to keep amending the UI Interface rules to cover off its many own violations!
Something tells me we're not done yet. Expect Address Book to be the next to 'go leather'. And I wouldn't be surprised if that was it.
From what I remember, Leopard looked like Tiger did for most of its development, before a release just prior to Gold Master made everything the dark grey gradient as you see today. It wouldn't surprise me if the end Lion product looks nothing like the Leopard/Snow Leopard look that you see right now.
