How long does it usually take for new releases to be available? So it's been announced it will be available "today". So.... what's the average? Hours? Minutes?
Yes, I'm an impatient child. :D

So...are you on VZW? Do you actually have a care in this matter, or is it just another way to rant on others?
AT&T still has people on $30 unlimited because they are grandfathered in. So will VZW, if they actually change the plans.
umm no i'm grandfathered on att unlimited data plan.
Never ranted on anyone... he said
ATT fanboys always say "For now it's unlimited" as if VZW will really get rid o f unlimited
(I hadn't made any comment on the matter, but thanks for your concern)
I was simply letting him know that the reason other posters were saying this is because the CFO of verizon said it himself.
Can I help you with anything else Mr. forum police?

Busted. Boy do I hate to be those guys.
Yeah, in the beginning I had some respect for what they did, because some parts of the Mac community needs to get some perspective, but now they just look pathetic.

Is OSX going to get an optional Black skin? (for the new black macbooks) Since Tiger had an alluminium X?
Well, the design of the Tiger DVDs at WWDC 2004 didn't indicate much about Tiger, and weren't even the final DVD design.
I just hope they try to stabilize on one UI design, instead of continually adding another new "exception" every year. (Unless, of course, they add full skinning capability. I highly doubt that will happen with 10.5, though.)
In addition to my promise to run around naked and post the video to the Internet if iMac gets Conroe, I will do the same if they introduce a phone at WWDC.
Not happening.
You probably should have said: "...if they introduce an Apple phone at WWDC." Because if they introduce another new Motorola phone, it will satisfy your stated requirements. ;)

Yep, I'm one of them. Not to de-rail the thread, but I live about two blocks from a tiny tornado that popped down in the Birmingham area. No damage at my house, but three streets over there are no standing trees or power poles.
As for Tuscaloosa, jeez. I've never seen footage like this except for on Discovery Channel, in places like tornado alley. In the lower left hand corner you'll see my old law school, and behind it about a half-mile is the main Tuscaloosa hospital, DCH.
I'm so naive. I didn't think tornados like this were real, at least anywhere outside of known "tornado alley" kinds of places. Just awful.
Tuscaloosa tornado video (http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2011/04/28/nat.alabama.tornado.cnn?hpt=T1)
Glad you're okay. Aside from the horror of losing loved ones or injuries, I can't imagine having my home destroyed.

I was expecting an 8MP Camera in the iPhone 5, Im just glad it could be a top quality company like Sony doing it.
No offense but its obvious you know nothing about photography. Your statement is 100% incorrect.
I guess these are bad pictures then if good pictures can't be taken without top of the line equipment:
Those are good, famous photos, even though the one on the left is staged, the kids are hiding their faces because they couldnt stop giggling at the idea of having their photo taken. Powerful photo though.

Urr no. Sony Vegas had had this sort of pricing for years and is used widely professionally because that was what it was designed for. Do you actually think that being a professional is being about owning a certain piece of software? So true, I know folks still running the original Media 100, GV Edius, MC Meridiens and even first run Premiere.
Folks you really only need one or two video layers to get a job done :)
From my line of work I rarely go higher than 2 since most of my work is done pre NLE (motion design and 3D).

It would be cool if you could buy comics this way as well. Maybe when you buy a physical comic, it could give you a code to enter at the iTMS (iTunes Media Store) to download a CBR version of it.
Right now, you can download all sorts of comics on BitTorrent as CBR or PDF format, and Marvel (www.marvel.com) has a pretty cool online (Flash-based, I think) comic reader from their website.
I'd love to be able to pony up some amount of money and have, say, the entire run of X-Men at my disposal for reading. And controlling the DRM on a comic would be easier than that of music, or even text.

I think that the more, the merrier.
I'd would be cool to keep the hype about the iPod high, including a completely new funcionality in mp3 players. IMHO, it would capitalize more sales to Apple and a whole knew interest in iPods.
Specially now that Microsoft confirmed the Zune...

So by that logic. You agree with the enforcement of a No Fly zone in Libya.
Yes I do. Just as I wouldn't stand idle if an individual near me were being mugged/robbed/attacked/raped, I do not feel my country should stand idle if innocent lives are at risk and it is in our power to save them.

You must not be a fan of our physical universe then.
There is a substantial difference between real 3D and fake 3D. Real 3D is what you see around yourself everyday where depth actually exists. Fake 3D is the rubbish that the movie and electronic industry would like us to pay money for by simulating real 3D on a 2D display. It simply does not work. I don't get headaches from fake 3D but I do get very annoyed at it because I can see that it is fake 3D and it just looks wrong. The only place where I think that fake 3D stands a chance is on an enormous screen like that at an IMAX where you cannot see real 3D at the same time as you are staring at the screen.

I think I'll enjoy my iPhone 4 a while longer and my battery life. LTE is not prevalent enough yet, nor are the chipsets able to run low power enough. Mid 2012 is the best timeframe for LTE. Any earlier and you are on the bleeding edge of no infrastructure. The networks and the technology simply aren't ready.
Oh, and the biggest myth about LTE: People actually believe there will be a significant bandwidth improvement. Sorry, but the jump from EDGE to 3G was much more significant than 3G to LTE, especially with 3G running at 7.2.

It seems that since Wal-Mart tends to service the very lowest income class in our culture and many of these folks tend to not have computers, and to the extent they do, tend to not have broadband either, it seems there is a degree of mutual exclusivity of markets.
Therefore it seems Wal-Mart is less concerned about the sales themselves as the "benefits" they receive by the physical customer traffic they get from some people going to Wal-Mart to buy intentionally underpriced product so they will shop for other things while there.
I think there may be a flaw in your reasoning. If wal-mart tended to service the very lowest income class, then how does this class propel such a company to become the biggest retailer of just about any consumable good in this country? Wal-mart targets anyone with a buck to spend and will try to sell them anything to help them part with that dollar, be that an iPod shuffle, DVD or box of peanuts.
As for the foot traffic, I doubt that online music sales has any effect on it. If so, how is Walmart still growing?

Unless they need one of the new bells and whistles, why upgrade? The old version still works, so unless there is a must have feature then there is no compelling reason to upgrade; other than you *want* the latest version independent of *needing* it.
If they do need it, but can't afford it; they probably need to reassess their line of work.
Problem is, Adobe in the past has been really bad at updating, even basic bugs etc with current versions of software. Basically, once a new version comes out....seems Adobe likes to bail on previous users with patches and bug fixes.
Me personally, I paid a lot for CS5, and I'd like at a minimum to be able to get bug fixes, patches, performance tweaks, for longer than 1 year. Ok, when CS6 is released, fine....scale back up bug fixes, etc. But I don't buy this half point release BS.

Has anyone noticed that the refurb section at the Apple Online Store is completely out of stock of all 15" and 13" Macbook Pros? I can't remember this being the case recently and it makes me wonder if this is related to a possible new release of those size configurations. There are multiple configs of the 17" MBP available.

...The title of the demo is "Device Drivers: Don't build a house on shaky ground." They are drawing attention to a serious problem and most people here are missing the point because all the blood rushed to their heads when they saw the Mac logo.
They clearly say this is not Apple's problem, it's because of buggy code in a 3rd party driver. They're using the Mac for a reason here-- they are specifically making the point that it doesn't matter how much trust you put into your OS vendor, you can get hosed by any poorly made USB thingy that you stick in the side.
I totally agree with you and I blame the Washington Post for the initial insanity. The headline and article made it sound as if the MacBook was the problem and not the third-party device driver. Obviously, there is a security hole that needs to be addressed by vendors like Apple, but this isn't an Apple hardware problem.
I may have be initially too dismissive of the article, but that's because of the sudden yellow tint to all the articles regarding Macintosh security. The tech-press is ready to wet themselves the moment a Macintosh hole is discovered and far too many people, offended by the Get A Mac commercials, have their long knives sharpened and are just waiting for the opportunity to use them. Some were so quick on the draw I suspect they merely read the headline.
