Ok, so here is what I think is happening. The release of MBP may happen before the iPad because Apple want to have customers buy both the iPad and the MBP. On the other hand, the release of a brand new product (iPad) is critical for them and they need to pull everything into it. That's why they choose not releasing MBP untill AFTER the iPad in fear of killing the interest of it.
So my conclusion is that it's either happening this tuesday or never...
and by never I mean many weeks after the iPad launch, far out in april :(

I'm guessing he got the MBP before the iPad. And, the 13 inch MBP can do a lot more than an iPad, while being more portable than the 15".
Oh of course, still seems a little redundant though.

If it's shipping in June, even June 30, how can it not be near final form? I mean when a developer tells me s/w is "nowhere near final form" I'm thinking early beta at best. But 2.5 months from release (assume June 30) shouldn't it be in the bug testing phases and everything else locked up?
I think they meant the build they showed last night, which is the same build they showed in Feb, is an old version that's no where near what the final version in terms of features. For all we know the build they showed might have from Dec or Jan (if or possibly even older).

I liked the old nano design infinitely better -- just so simple, cool, and perfect. A year ago I was excited to upgrade my mini, which I had always considered ugly, to the sleek, contemporary nano. I don't know... the mini design just never looked good. I can't believe they went back to it, but judging by the comments in this forum, the majority of people seems to like it.
I'm thinking if aluminum and colors, then why not at least elegant, sleek looking colors like anthrazite, dark brown, or steel grey? Oh well.

Source you are absolutely pathetic yourself. Mac users, like myself, have to defend our machines. You idiots who use pc's just dont get it. You bash macs evey chance you get and i just wonder how many have actually used one for an extended period of time. You cant honeslty tell me that the very first time you used a pc you were able to figure everything out. I cant tell if it was your first machines but i will tell you this. People who use macs for the first time generally have an easier time than pc users do.
Now think that over and realise. it is a personal preference. Not a defining factor of who a person is.

it would not surprise me at all to see MBP's announced in the next couple of days in the same way this was announced; press release + updated store.
that way the 12th can be "and before we get into itunes stuff, lets recap: look at all this new stuff....."

Well, you are already paying for color-screen, video-playback, photo-playback etc. etc. etc.. They seem to be adding features constantly, yet the price does not go up (more or less).Well, since I never liked, or considered buying, a "regular" iPod you're only half-right... colour-screen is just normal development, I guess, probably not much more expensive than monochrome ones, in large quantity... video and games are still not available on the nanos, and hopefully won't be for a long long while, so that is for the buyers of the "regulars" to pay... and photo was developed for the regular iPods, and even if I don't really need or want it, it probably was fairly cheap, too... :)
If you wanted a barebones iPod, you would always have the ShuffleI have my mini, and if I'm to replace that (and not just get a new battery when the time comes) it will probably be with one of the new nanos, which - even with the added photo-playback - is still fairy basic... ;)

Well, I think you said "maybe," but it's all good now. I will put the Plextor DVD-RW Drive in the bottom bay. Question though, I have Toast 7 for Power PC, but will it work alright under rosetta, or do I have to buy a Universal Binary?No I most certainly did not say "maybe". I said "definitely". I just bought a Macbook Pro literally 5 minutes ago. I've been waiting for months and I finally gave up. After the order was completed, I thought I'd check macrumors just for laughs and the first thing I saw was, "new macbook pros tomorrow?" :(
lol! sucks... or maybe you have an awesome machine one the way anyway. i bought my macbook pro right before they did the 2.53 refurbs to make way for the sd cardslot mbp's. those could handle 8 gig of mem and mine is a 2.4 with 4gb max. all they sold those for just 1500 bucks and i bought mine for 1800. i was a month and 6 days out of the price guarantee threshhold. i wanted to die...... but then i realized my mac is a monster in it's own right and im enjoying the heck out of it and will continue to do so for the next 7 or 8 years. ..... still sucks tho.

I was seriously disappointed when I attended last years one, the Apple engineers couldn't answer either of my questions, the presentations only reaffirmed what I already knew or pointed to documentation / demo code that every developer got for free anyway.
If you are a serious developer and want to attend the conference to actually learn its a serious disappointment. But I guess most conferences are just to network and geek it up which is why it sold out I guess.

Who are the Beatles?
I listened to some previews in iTunes and it just sounds like some old, dusty kind of annoying quasi-hippy stuff.
They are the foundation of everything in the pop & rock world with a reach way outside of just pop & rock. Like Zepplin or Pink Floyd? You like the Beatles. Like Coldplay or Eminem or Devil Wears Prada or Pat Metheny or whatever ... you like the Beatles.
