Austrian Store is down as well.

Take note, that Austria is NOT among those countries (US, UK, Germany,...) who are supposed to get iPad's on April 3rd.

    That's quiet a good sign isn't it?

I've seen some 3G models that work great w/ 4.2.1 and some that don't. One was jailbroken, so I wrote that one off. The one thing I've seen that helped a s l o w non-jailbroken one was a double reset (force the phone to reboot, load, then force reboot once more). You could also do a complete wipe and see if it performs well before restoring your backup -and then do a piece by piece restore if that solved the issue.

I don't think 4.x is that bad for everyone on a 3G, but I have seen it in "slow mode"- and the people experiencing this are not making it up. It's -bad-. I wish there were a definitive fix other than trial and error as above and hoping you don't put something on your phone to cause it again...

Yeah, I think a freshly restored 3G with iOS 4.2.1 is okay. Something in the restore from backup part is where it gets s - l - o - w. I've seen it, too, and having a 3Gs which is quick (but not FAST) for most stuff, using the s - l - o -w 3G was like running Win XP on an old computer that hasn't had an OS rebuild in years with 1GB free hard drive space, high fragmentation, and 512MB of RAM. Usable, but one could justifiably argue against that. ;)

This is what the iPod nano always should have been: a radically slimmer iPod mini.

Love the colors. Love the new (old) shape. Love the new (old) aluminum scratch-free design.

    I want one. ;)

Indeed....the mini is back. The 8gig in black only is the killer though.

    Bless

That sounds like it makes sense, but does ATT have LTE coverage? or will they by October?

AT&T is going to be busy revamping T-Mobile's towers, and they still have not upgraded there current system's for more bar's in more place's .

I've been in NYC where there supposed to be up to date and the latest technology, reset my iPhone so I was on there towers down there and still had 3 dropped calls , my friend who is Verizon has NEVER had a dropped call, either with there black berry or iPhone.

If Verizon would update there towers to all LTE I'd port over as soon as a LTE iPhone comes out but for now I'm still using a 3G iPhone and seriously thinking of going to a pay as you go till Apple, Verizon, & AT&T get there act together and start using technology of today and not the past, easier said than done but if they want to do it they will and soon.

Hopefully before the economy tanks out again

Basically, what we are talking about is an individual's worldview and how that worldview impacts their motivations in life.I don't think so. He seems unequivocally to be asserting that without one's unquestioning acceptance of and devotion to a mythologised usurper whose polytheistic antecedents are documented within the written record, all one's actions are essentially worthless, at least according to his criteria. That anyone can place such emphasis on the acceptance of such a patently fraudulent cosmology as a precondition to salvation is extraordinary.

It's all fun and games until someone wakes up with a dead horse head in their bed.

But seriously... $9.99 to $12.99 movie downloads when I can go over to any store (like, oh, say, Wal-Mart) and buy the real deal for a buck or two more? Just how in God's name is this a threat to them?! Wal-Mart's smartest move would be to drop their DVD prices by that buck or two, until they cost the SAME or LESS than online downloads.

The studios generally charge Wal-Mart a wholesale price of $17.95 for new DVDs, while Apple is paying Disney a wholesale price of about $14.50 per film, according to a studio source.
    Go figure...

I can't deny that I think a lot of people who post here want speed for speed's sake, not because they need it.

I run a HEAVY load of services (Apache, TomCat, MySQL, a lot of cron, etc.) on my machine at all times, iTunes at all times, many terminal sessions, several browsers, BBEdit, CodeWarrior, Excel, Mail, and often have DreamWeaver, Photoshop, Thoth, Flash, and several others open, and I seldom have slowdowns. I don't render anything, and I respect the complaints of people doing heavy rendering.

If you're are noticing slowdowns, max your RAM, and get a RAID card. If you're peaking both processors with 2GB of RAM, and an U160 SCSI, or ATA 133 RAID, complain, otherwise, you don't really have a right to!

You're right, after I look closely at this image. Dunno how it seemed so clearly brushed metal to me before.

Suing doesn't automatically make you greedy or unpeaceful or unloving. They're protecting their property which I wouldn't fault anyone for doing (if that's all it really is.)

    For the ad, I'm thinking:
    "Hi, I'm a PC."
"And I'm a Mac." in a beatle wig
(crowd of screaming 12 year-old girls run in and mow down the Mac guy)

    uh no... wrong.
IANAL, but A. the beatles lost... apparently a didnt believe they were protecting their property

    B. exactly what property do you think they were protecting? the idea that no company should be allowed to be called apple, in any business, ever? even after the same exact case had been settled before? ever heard of the 5th amendment?

I am one of the folks who say that. I am not a fan of the band or group. It might mean I don't like what they might stand for, or their individual ideas so I don't buy every thing they do or did. It usually means that I don't like the sound or style of the bulk of their catalog. An example would be not liking a particular genre of music but finding one song I enjoy out of that genre. I don't like country music as a type but I have a few songs in my library that are country tunes. But I might put all that aside and enjoy one or two songs from an artist that I don't particularly like. I have had artists that I liked so much I bought everything they did only to later look back and say wha??? Why did I do that?

You don't have to love the Beatles music. I do, and billions of other people do, but you don't.

But, you do have to recognize that without them, popular music would be an entirely different game right now. People can't remember a time when rock/pop was only ONE type of popular music. The Beatles made it THE type of music, and virtually everything that has come since is a direct result of that change; both musically, and in spirit, in terms of the artistic freedom and experimentation that the Beatles encouraged.

This is not to mention the enormous influence the Beatles had on the recording process itself; the technical advances that went down at Abbey Road in the 60's were mindboggling, and many have become standard studio practice.

So no, you don't have to love the music. But you must grant that without the Beatles, most of the music you DO love would be a whole lot different.

I believe the GeForce 7600 GT is on par with the X1800 GT, faster in some cases, slower in others. It's a pretty good graphics card. I would just like to see the GeForce 7600 GT bump out the 7300 GT on Mac Pro.

Does anyone know how the 7300GT compares to the X1600? I am leaning towards the 20" to replace my 17" rev. A iMacG5, but would upgrade to the 24" is the GPU is a big bump.

Dude, that's the specs for the current Macbook.

Yes but it does clearly state Core 2 Duo in the product name and the release date of 13th November, they could have just copied the spec of the existing one as they are unsure of the new spec. What is telling is the date, they obviously expect it to happen on the 13th

Let me be the first to lament:

    THEY BROKE iTUNES 5.x!

Well, you can still use it for playback and music management. But you can't use the shopping cart any more.

an update with speed increases that they'll never even notice

You know exactly what every MBP purchaser does with their hardware do you?

I would notice the upgrade. A LOT.

On the last page of Part 12 I posted a setup that is located in my home office (mainly used by my wife). Different room.

I decided to update my own office (kind of) with a brand spanking new iMac which is replacing my late 2009 Macbook Pro.

    Old Specs Macbook Pro 17":
2.8 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4GB RAM
500GB + 80GB SSD ( took it out before selling)
    Nvidia 9400M + 9600M

    New Specs iMac:
    2.93Ghz i7
    8GB RAM
1TB Hard Drive + (still want my 80GB SSD inside this baby, but difficult to do so!)
    ATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB

    So far, so good.

The speakers are also still there, but these are not shown in the picture.

    This is an old/new comparison.

Mind the quality, but my iPhone 4 broke (will be replaced) on me so I used an old iPhone first generation.

I kept the iPad 64Gb Wifi.

    Feedback is always welcome. :D

Wonderful composition! I really like how you choose to freeze the water as opposed to showing it flow. The reflected light, the symmetry - all great stuff.

Now that the MBs have been updated and the US Apple Online Store is still down, I hope that the RAM prices have been cut.

It sucks I gotta return my 4 day old MB for a new one but I would pay $140 more if it means getting a better MB that can last one more year (or more). :D
