Yes, because the hardware manufactured decided to use "GB" for Gibibyte instead of gigabyte. But since all memory (hardrives, ram) are in base 2, 2^30 = 1GB is correct.

I will say something about SPRINT. First off, that article is WRONG!
Baltimore, Maryland is the 1st SPRINT test market for 4G, but it's not even mentioned in that article! I know so because SPRINT is actively advertising it and it's been in other press reports. So how many other test markets did they miss in their alleged comparison of 4G vs. 3G I wonder?
Um, all of them, I guess. That test was carried out locally, since the local city, at that time, provided "4G" from the 3 tested providers. I'm not sure why that would be a problem for you. The only issue I have with it is that Tmob is not tested to cover all 4 national providers, perhaps that wasn't up and running in Detroit at the time. Weird question, why is F@H showing up as a user level process? I remember it used to show up as a nice process when I ran it last years ago. It's set to idle level in the setup of course and I never noticed till now because it seems to be behaving as a nice process but it's not showing up as one.

Hey all, currently I use an Apple 20" HD display with my 12" powerbook. I use a MacAlly iceKey keyboard, which I totally love except the white color does not match so well with the aluminium display and laptop. Anyone know of a good USB or BT keyboard that would closely resemble the actual keyboard on my PB?

well here is the damage.
I cant get the old paste off the gpu as its baked on hard! I've managed to clean the heatsink of the remnants though.
Will applying a layer to the the GPU be enough? Will the remaining contact area of new paste be effective or is it FUBAR?
Rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) and qtips can't get more of the paste off? I've read about people using a razor blade before to scrape it off, or use acetone, or even a hair dryer. You might wait for someone with actual experience removing the old stubborn stuff to post a reply, I'm just repeating what I've read elsewhere.
I also see Artic Silver makes a 2 step cleaning kit http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100010&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-CPU+Thermal+Paste+/+Grease-_-Arctic+Silver-_-35100010

I came across Launchbar when I was looking for a replacement to the quick-launcher I used to have in my Gnome panel (under Linux). This was a little box that you'd type a command in and it'd run - not quite as cool as Launchbar, but actually more flexible because you could type a one-line perl script etc. in addition to command names.
Then someone mentioned Quicksilver and I tried that. Quicksilver seems to be faster that Launchbar when it comes to indexing etc.
But the question is, will Quicksilver stay free? Maybe I'm just blind, but I haven't seen anything (and I've looked) that says Quicksilver is going to be a free app. Right now it's just in beta, and often beta means "free for now, until we get the quirks worked out".

Apple should really diversify their suppliers anyway, which is what they look like they are doing. Cut Samsung supply by 50%, and threaten all of it if they don't get their act together. Surely Samsung doesn't think that that they can bring in this kind of revenue on their own merit. Outside of LCD televisions, Samsung has an image problem, and even that has only improved in the last few years.

I think Pros on Final Cut have every right to be worried. While indications are that the pro apps are perfectly profitable it just seems Apple can't be arsed with it all when you can just slap some clever electronics inside a little box, let the sheep lap it up and make a mint.
When Final Cut DID start marching into the fringes of the high end a few years back and Apple started buying and including things like Motion and Shake it did seem like they wanted to own that space. Now? I'm not so sure. Maybe they'll merge Final Cut and Final Cut Express and politely ask pro users to migrate over to Media Composer 5 - perhaps they'll sell it in the Apple store or Mac App store.
Logic, too, looked like ProTools was being increasingly targeted a couple of years back but, again, Apple will probably think keeping the old Emagic AKA Logic operation going as a bit of an anomaly.
Aperture, well, that doesn't really have much of a point with Lightroom around, good though it is.
I just don't think Apple want to be an Adobe or Microsoft anymore, otherwise they would set up a proper semi-independent software division a la Filemaker for the pro apps and give it the resources to grow.
It's all a bit ironic as there's a lot of corporate backing now for iPad and iPhone, which Apple are happy to meet, but they seem to have giving the bird to professionals that kept them going in the lean mid-90s era and more recent converts who thought going Apple meant they were buying into emerging industry standards.

I am really in an emergency and I have not seen or found anyone selling the small circle water sensors that are like papers, which stick to the top side of the screw. The screw is the one that keeps the logic board in place, does anyone know where I can find the small water sensors for sale? Thanks very much.

I just want subscriptions on my iPad and the main point is, whether you agree or disagree with Apple's opt-in policy, this is still a major sticking point with many publications. Of all the magazine/newspaper apps I use on my iPad only 2 have adopted the new subscription policy. NYT was one of those but I deleted it because those prices were insane. I just want subscription options from Wired, Popular Mechanics and Sports Illustrated. I don't care about Apple's policy, I don't care if the publisher gets my info or not... I just want subscriptions!!!!!! I have stopped and will never pay another $5 per issue for anything on the iPad. Subscriptions or nothing!
